Ayurveda - what it is?
Ayurveda is a holistic system of healthcare developed in ancient India. Ayurvedic therapy uses natural forms of medication and attempts to bring balance to a person’s health. Since it is a holistic system, ayurvedic medicine believes in physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. In Ayurveda, they believe that treating the symptoms of a disease is not enough. They try to address the root cause of the illness to promote complete wellbeing.

How we found Ayurveda
Alveda has been founded by the Amitours group, a Swiss travel and tourism company. For more than 15 years our work in the field of tourism took us to India. This is where we first came across Ayurveda. We've met a number of Ayurvedic physicians who offered natural treatment to our customers, leaving them feeling much better than traditional medical treatments did. Soon, we had integrated the wonders of Ayurvedic therapy into our daily life and the entire family used it.
However, we quickly discovered that access to reliable Ayurvedic specialists was almost entirely unavailable in the west. We needed to go back to India. This is where the idea for Alveda began to take shape.

Online Ayurveda consultations for your health
Many people in the west have never even heard of Ayurveda. Physicians and specialists that practice it are largely limited to India. These doctors undergo years of rigorous training in both Ayurvedic medicine as well as traditional western medicine to take care of all the healthcare needs of their patients. The Indian government is promoting research into Ayurvedic medicine and also providing courses for aspiring doctors. All Ayurvedic doctors require a BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree which is a certification required to practice Ayurveda. Institutions in India that offer the degree include the National Institute of Ayurveda and All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi.
While traveling to India to seek Ayurvedic healthcare is already a challenge, when COVID-19 hit, it became nearly impossible. Hence, it became imperative to find a way to provide access to reliable and cheap online consultations with the Ayurvedic specialists available in India. We decided to do just that.
