Emotions that Block

Allergy means lack of emotional self-control. The subconscious thus manifests feelings and emotions that are suppressed — irritation, resentment, pity, anger. An allergy indicates that you do not agree with something in your life — a situation or a relationship. The cause of allergies must be sought inside, not outside!

Allergies from the point of view of Ayurveda

Allergy is an immune system disorder. Allergic reactions occur when a hypersensitive immune system reacts to a common or foreign substance. They can be breathed into the lungs, swallowed, or injected.

There are three types of allergies:
food allergies,
airborne allergies,
contact allergies.

In each case, the body recognizes something that’s typically non-harmful as harmful. The immune system boosts into overdrive to try to eliminate this faux pathogen.

Many allergic reactions are mild, while others can be severe and life-threatening. The most severe form is called anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock. Allergic reactions occur more often in people who have a family history of allergies.

According to Ayurveda, the primary causes of allergies are:
genetics,
weak Agni (digestive fire),
presence of Ama in the body (undigested food that becomes toxic),
imbalanced doshas (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha),
weak immune system.

How Ayurvedic doctors treat allergies

Traditional Ayurvedic treatments and therapies include holistic practices to help alleviate the symptoms of various allergies and prevent them from occurring in the first place. For example, Nasya (oil massage of the nostrils) is a beneficial Ayurvedic therapy for allergies.

To relieve allergy symptoms, Ayurveda recommends ingesting cooling herbs, such as coriander and cilantro. In addition, herbs such as guduchi, amalaki, and neem may be helpful. Consuming clarified butter or ghee, as well as aloe, can soothe the inflammatory response typical of Pitta imbalance.

It is strongly recommended that you consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any detoxification process to eliminate Ama or taking Ayurvedic herbs for skin disorders. The treatment protocol may change based on a person's body constitution and symptoms.

Allergies indicate that you are not at peace with something in your life - the situation or the relationship. The cause of allergies must be sought inside, not outside!
