Arrhythmia from the point of view of Ayurveda
Arrhythmia means that the heart is not beating in its natural rhythm. Either it is beating too quickly, too slowly, or in an irregular pattern. Arrhythmia is usually a sign of some underlying cardiac pathology.
It may feel like your heart skipped a beat, added a beat, or is "fluttering." It might feel like it’s beating too fast (tachycardia) or too slow (bradycardia).
The increased heart rate can influence the cardiac functions because of which its efficacy for pumping blood is decreased. This can decrease the blood flow to the critical organs, thus increasing the chance of stroke and cardiac failure.
According to Ayurveda, the cause for the development of arrhythmia starts with the loss of natural balance. From an Ayurvedic point of view, it is important to understand the cause of arrhythmia, which can be both a lifestyle problem and a disease.
The most common arrhythmia causes are heart diseases, heart injury, heart surgery complications, certain medications, strong emotions like stress or excitement, consumption of alcohol, tobacco and caffeine.
