Glaucoma

Glaucoma is eye diseases that lead to loss of vision. It is characterized by a buildup of pressure within the eye that causes damage to the optic nerve – that’s carry information from the eye to the brain. If the optic nerves are weakened, it directly affects the vision.
Unless this pressure is lowered and controlled, the optic nerve and other parts of the eye can be damaged. Risk factors are limited to the onset of the disease and those associated with progressive worsening of the disease. The main risk factors associated with an individual and the onset of the disease are age and genetic predisposition.
Thera are 2 types  of Glaucome:

  • Open-angle glaucoma, the most common form of glaucoma, accounts for at least 90% of all glaucoma cases

  • Angle-closure glaucoma, a less common form of glaucoma
