Anemia during pregnancy from the point of view of Ayurveda
There are different types of anemia, that can develop during pregnancy. These include:
- Iron-deficiency anemia
- Folate-deficiency anemia
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
During pregnancy, the body produces more blood to support the growth of the baby. If the body is not getting enough iron or certain other nutrients, it might not be able to produce the necessary amount of red blood cells. Lower levels of iron are expected in pregnancy, but if women feel tired, lethargic, fatigued, dizzy, heart races — it is advisable to speak to a midwife about iron supplementation. Anemia during pregnancy can easily be treated by adding iron or vitamin supplements to the daily routine.
