Urticaria (Hives)
Urticaria from the point of view of Ayurveda
Urticaria (hives) is an outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps on the skin caused by the body's reaction to chemicals in certain foods, insect stings, sunlight exposure, or medications.
Poor digestion causes the disease. As a result of poor digestion, ama is produced, resulting in an overload of toxin in the body and an allergic reaction.
The following hive types are as follows:
Acute urticaria: The most common type, lasting less than six weeks, is caused by specific foods, medications, or infections, insect bites, and internal disease.
Chronic urticaria: Can last for up to six weeks. Thyroid disease, hepatitis, infection, or cancer may be the cause in some cases. Chronic urticaria can affect internal organs such as the lungs, muscles, and gastrointestinal tract.
The Ayurvedic medical system can effectively treat both chronic and acute urticaria.
How Ayurvedic doctors treat urticaria
The modalities of Ayurvedic treatment are planned based on whether the condition is acute or chronic, as well as the etiology.
The physician will customize all Ayurvedic treatments only after a thorough consultation. Depending on the course of treatment, treatment can be changed during the process.
Ayurvedic treatment concepts include body purification therapy. Classical Vamana/Virechana is recommended. An Ayurvedic doctor may prescribe oral medications such as Haridrakhandam, Arogyavardhini, and many others.
