The knees may indicate the inability to move forward for fear of criticism, or lack of self expression. The hips may represent the lack of support in life or financial worries. Any right-sided issue in the body can relate to the male energy in your life, while the left side represents the female energy.

Bursitis

Bursitis is the inflammation of a tiny sac called bursa which is responsible for cushioning shoulders, joints, and tendons. Bursitis occurs when the bursa beings to swell and becomes inflamed. Bursa is a type of lubricating fluid which plays a key role in preventing the tissues from damage caused by friction and other problems. 

Common joints to get bursitis are hip, ankles, shoulder, knee, elbow, thighs and buttocks.

There are various reasons for causing bursitis such as overuse of joints, leaning on elbows for a long periods, repetitive movements, injuries, trauma, vitamin B12 and calcium deficiency, joint pressure, heavy lifting, incorrect posture, inflammatory disorders. 

Symptoms of bursitis include: restricted movements of the joint, constant pain or aggravating while moving of the joints, tenderness swelling 

 

According to Ayurveda disbalance of three Doshas (functional energy ) is responsible for inflammatory condition in bursas. 

Based on Ayurvedic principles  , bursitis may be related and mainly caused by Vata or Pitta dosha condition .

Ayurvedic treatment of any form of bursitis depends on whether or not it involves infection, but the basic idea is to cure bursitis from root and cure completely with the help of Ayurveda detoxification and rejuvenation therapies - during treatment Ayurvedic therapies may be included :  

Medicated Enemas (Basti )-This therapy helps to clean blocked micro circulating channels by expelling out toxins, reducing inflammation 

Heat therapy (Pinda sweda)/ Steaming with herbal medicines –reduces inflammation in joints, restore elasticity in cartilages & ligaments of the joint. 

Also Ayurveda strongly recommends dietary restrictions and holistic treatments. 

Ayurveda also offers a variety of Herbal medicine for cure Bursitis - Shallaki is an effective herbal plant meant for bursitis treatment , Ashwagandha herbal plant supports back and joints enabling the patients to lower the symptoms of bursitis effectively, Kaishore guggulu  should help, application of Sandalwood paste has a good results during  treatment .
Other treatments are given to the patient depending upon the condition of the disease and patient. 


  • A healthy dietary pattern 

  • reduce weight helps in reducing the burden on joints

  • advisable include nuts in your diet,

  • Carbonated drinks, packaged foods or junk food should be avoided

  • Gentle oil massages are beneficial

  • Avoid fried foods

  •  gently rubbing some of oil - sesame oil, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil around painful area

  • Warm it up - a heating pad or heat pack will not only feel good but will get rid of excess fluid by increasing circulation

  • 1 tsp turmeric + glass of warm milk – drink it daily
