Fatty Liver
Fatty liver disorders are of two types: alcoholic and
nonalcoholic. Ayurveda explains it as Yakrit Roga (liver disorder) and to some
extent as Medaroga (body fat disorder) because both aspects are present in this
disease. Generally, the problem is seen more frequently in men, however, women
are also at risk.
In the Ayurvedic context, it can be correlated with
Yakrutodar roga. The diseases that manifest themselves in the abdominal cavity
causing distention of the abdomen is Udararoga. In this condition, Agni plays
an important role in the manifestation of the disease. Mandagni and mal sanchay
are two main causes of udar roga.
Ayurveda provides effective treatment through a
holistic combination of herbal-mineral medications, ahara (diets), vihara
(lifestyle recommendations) and vyama (gentle exercise).
