Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or venereal diseases are transmitted through various methods of sexual intercourse (oral, vaginal, and anal). The predisposition to this type of diseases and infections depends on the immunity system of the body, so the lower the immunity system's strength, the greater the risk of Sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The most important pathogenic causes of Sexual Transmitted Diseases  include bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

In men, common symptoms include:

  • pain or discomfort during sex or urination

  • sores, bumps, or rashes on or around the penis, testicles, anus, buttocks, thighs, or mouth

  • unusual discharge or bleeding from the penis

  • painful or swollen testicles

Specific symptoms can vary, depending on the STD. There are more than 20 types of STDs, including  Chlamydia Genital herpes Gonorrhea HIV/AIDS HPV Pubic lice Syphilis Trichomoniasis

Treatment for the condition is symptomatic with use of specific herbal formulations and wound care . 

Ayurvedic management  for Sexual Transmitted diseases includes, Oleation, Mild sudation, Bloodletting, Leech therapy, Vamana (Emesis with medication under medical supervision), Virechana (Purgation), Blood purifying medicines.

Single herbs which are beneficial in infections of Penis  are Haldi, Yashtimadhu, Manjishta, Chandan  are useful.  The Ayurvedic doctor  may also suggest a number of immunity-boosting medicines, such as  Neem  capsules or Ashwashila capsules  in sexually transmitted diseases treatment . Other herbal medicines that are created for deeper rooted issues may also be able to help in the problem. 



  • Use of nutritious food is advised -  fresh fruits, nuts, cereals and vegetables should be eaten.

  • Have light and nutritious diet

  • Include sweet and sour foods

  • Indigestion, excess salt, alcohol & astringent materials should be avoided.

  • Rosemary is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial plant, and therefore is used to treat various types of infections

  • Basil leaf ( Tulsi)  is a strong microbicide and can destroy a variety of fungi and bacteria

  • Blueberries are fruits that have many usages in traditional medicine and are often recommended

  • Eucalyptus essential oil exhibits antimicrobial properties against certain bacteria
