Amnesia:
Amnesia is a condition in which memory is disturbed or lost. Other symptoms of amnesia can include confusion and uncoordinated movements. People with amnesia usually retain knowledge of their own identity, as well as motor skills.
There are multiple types of amnesia, including retrograde amnesia, anterograde amnesia, and transient global amnesia. Amnesia can be caused by many things including traumatic experiences and brain injury.
The causes of amnesia have traditionally been divided into two types - organic or the functional.
Organic causes include damage to the brain, through physical injury, neurological disease or the use of certain (generally sedative) drugs.
Functional causes are psychological factors, such as mental disorder, post-traumatic stress or, in psychoanalytic terms, defense mechanisms.
Common Causes of Memory Loss are – Ageing, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, depression, anxiety, brain tumours, thyroid disorder, and stress, lack of sleep, alcohol and drug abuse, certain medications like sleeping pills, anti-depressants, sugar level and cholesterol reducing medicines.
The ancient science of Ayurveda offers many therapies and herbs which have now been found to act on these degenerative processes.

Shiro Lepam - procedure is done as the patient's head is rubbed with a special herbal paste mixed with medicinal oil. It acts cordially on the brain function
Shirovasti- head is placed in a leather funnel, similar to a cylindrical hat, in which warm herbal oil is poured which is left to stay for a certain time. This therapy is extremely effective in nervous and psychological disorders and helps achieve complete relaxation of the whole body.
