Modern cancer therapy, known to be burdened with toxic
drug-induced side effects, in the hope of a perfect cure for the disease, forms
the system of complementary and alternative medicine. The main objective of
Ayurvedic therapy is to find the ultimate cause of a disease while the
therapeutic approach of Ayurveda is divided into four categories like
Prakritisthapani chikitsa (maintenance of health), Rasayana chikitsa,
(restoration of normal function), Roganashani chikitsa (healing of illness) and
Naishthiki chikitsa (spiritual approach). The commonly used herbal decoctions
reported in Ayurveda are made from several herbs with great potential for
cancer cure; scientifically, these formulations work in multiple biochemical
pathways and together influence different organ systems and nourish the body as
a whole by supporting the body's deference systems.
