Pleurisy

Pleurisy can affect people with certain underlying medical conditions, such as infections or autoimmune diseases. Pleurisy occurs in people of all ages. Pleurisy  is a type of  chest pain . It affects a part of body called the pleura.
The pleura is a thin layer of tissue that wraps  lungs as a thin membrane that lines the outside of the lungs and the inside of the chest cavity.
Pleurisy is an inflammation (swelling or irritation) of these two layers of tissue. Fluid lubricates the layers of the pleura so they slide smoothly alongside each other when you breathe. Pleurisy can cause sharp or stabbing chest pain and shortness of breath.
There are two types of pleurisy: dry and wet pleurisy. In dry pleurisy, the more common condition, the inflamed pleurae rub directly against each other. In wet pleurisy, fluid oozes from the inflamed tissue into the space between the lungs and the chest wall. This fluid may compress the lungs, making breathing difficult.

In Ayurveda , Pleurisy is known as  Parshwashool .
In Ayurveda , every one of the three doshas, vata, pitta kapha assume parts in causing Parshwashool. When Vayu gets aggaraved and gathers from the body into the lungs. Kapha dosha is thick, with combination of hot Pitta -  kapha melts  and changes  into watery liquid. Accordingly, there is amassing of watery fluid in lungs. This disturbance of kapha can stifle the gastric fire and hamper the absorption. Powerful treatment is accessible in Ayurveda for parshwashool which incorporates certain Ayurvedic treatments, herbs and eating regimen changes. Ayurveda patient with Pleurisy is treated with  Pachana - herbal mixtures are administered to the patient, it help the body digest and expel ama ( toxin) , Virechana therapy is a type of Panchkarma, patient is made to undergo controlled purgation to flush out body toxins  , Srotosodhana - other body purification therapy , Vyadhi Pratyanika Chikitsa -   the vitiated Dosha that has to be treated by elimination , , and Rasayana Chikitsa - is also known as Rejuvenation therapy and given treatment for oral medication and external Ayurvedic therapies . Health is an important factor in quality of life, so it is important to entrust it to a professional Ayurvedic specialist . The specific treatment plan and medications are determined by the Ayurvedic doctor during the visit.
