Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is a sexual dysfunction characterized by a sexually mature male's inability to obtain or maintain an erection on a regular and repeated basis. This is usually caused by stress, exhaustion, anxiety, or excessive alcohol consumption. Ayurveda divides erectile dysfunction into three types: Dhajabhangaja impotence. This type is commonly caused by excessive sexual activity, chronic diseases, damage to the tissues of the penis, and trauma of the male genital organs. Bijopaghataja and Shukra Kshayaja impotence. Both of these types of impotence are characterized by decreased sperm production, low sperm quality and count. Jaraja Klaibya. The fourth type is often caused by advancing age and a long-term nutrient deficiency in the diet.
