FIBROMYALGIA
Fibromyalgia from the point of view of Ayurveda
Widespread musculoskeletal pain coupled with impairments with memory, mood, sleep, and exhaustion are the hallmarks of the illness known as fibromyalgia. The way your brain and spinal cord handle painful and non-painful impulses may be altered by fibromyalgia, according to researchers, which increases painful sensations. Symptoms frequently appear following an incident, such as a physical injury, surgery, infection, or intense psychological stress. In other instances, symptoms develop gradually over time without a specific cause. Fibromyalgia is more likely to affect women than men. In addition to tension headaches, TMJ issues, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression, fibromyalgia affects a large percentage of the population.
HOW AYURVEDIC DOCTORS TREAT FIBROMYALGIA
According to Ayurveda, fibromyalgia could be a result of impairment in the doshas—Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. With the accumulation of toxins or Ama in the body, this impairs the digestion process (it weakens or slows down). As a result, for a treatment to be effective, the three doshas’ equilibrium must be restored along with neutralising the toxins. (removal of toxins). This is attributed to correcting the digestion at the cellular level by correcting the diet, lifestyle and proper oral medication. For eg. Drinking excessive amounts of water or sleeping during the day for longer periods may cause impaired digestion leading to accumulation of toxic metabolites that circulate throughout the body leading to pain and heaviness which can be understood as fibromyalgia.
Tips for effective Ayurvedic treatment of Fibromyalgia:
-
The course of treatment frequently includes a blend of herbal and Ayurvedic therapies ,dietary adjustments, lifestyle adjustments, meditation, and yoga or pranayama.
-

-
