LYMPHANGITIS
Lymphangitis from the point of view of Ayurveda
The lymphatic system filters a whitish-clear fluid called lymph, which contains bacteria-killing white blood cells. Lymph travels through the body along lymphatic vessels and collects fats, bacteria, and other waste products from cells and tissues. Lymphangitis is an infection of the lymph vessels (channels). It is a complication of bacterial infections. Lymphangitis most often results from an acute streptococcal infection of the skin. Lymphangitis may be a sign that a skin infection is getting worse. Infectious lymphangitis occurs when viruses and bacteria invade the vessels of your lymphatic system, typically through an infected cut or wound. Tender red streaks often radiate from the wound toward the nearest lymph glands. Other symptoms of Lymphangitis include fever, chills, and a general sense of illness.
HOW AYURVEDIC DOCTORS TREAT LYMPHANGITIS
Ayurvedic treamtent for any lymph disease starts with detox procedures that involve different methods , including Panchkarma , depending on the cause of the disease. The basic principles of Ayurveda are the balance between doshas. The main objective of the Ayurvedic system of treatment is to restore the original state of equilibrium between the doshas. Toxins, most of which are produced by the digestive system, with combination of the external environment, create a favorable environment for the infection. The lymphatic system is related with blood circulation and digestion system, therefore Ayurvedic treatment are used to purified digestive tract first of all. Ayurveda use Vamanam (therapeutic emesis) – induced vomiting helps clear the upper gastro till the duodenum and part of the respiratory tract. Virechanam (purgation) – induced purgation clears the lower gastro from the duodenum till the exit . Anuvasana – Oil enema helps lubricate the rectal area and take out all the lipid soluble waste out through the anus. Astapana Vasti – Therapeutic Decoction Enema cleanses the area from the transverse colon till the anus.
Detoxification therapies continues with Ayurvedic restoration and balancing procedures and various Ayurvedic preparations .
During consultation with Ayurvedic doctor individual diet is regulated and physical activity is adjusted depending on the direction of therapy.
