Vitiligo from the point of view of Ayurveda
Vitiligo or Leucoderma is an acquired de-pigmentation of the skin that is very common worldwide. Vitiligo is a skin disorder in which the skin loses its color in blotches. It is an autoimmune condition when
a pigment called melanin gradually disappears from the layers of the dermis, resulting in the formation of white spots.
Vitiligo can occur at any age, person, and in any kind of skin.
The most affected areas include the hands, the neck, the back, and the wrists in the order - it is neither infectious nor contagious, which starts with a small white or pale-colored patch and enlarges into a larger patch in course of time. Though Vitiligo is not a fatal disease, it can have deep psychological impacts. The patient undergoes extreme anxiety, mental stress. They suffer from embarrassment and inferiority complex because of their appearance.
HOW AYURVEDIC DOCTORS TREAT VITILIGO
In Ayurveda Vitiligo is classified into Kushta rogas (skin diseases), referred to as Switra, which is classified into 3 types:
Most common is Kilasa – when doshas vitiate the medho dhatu (fat tissue), the patches will be white
AnoOther is Daruna – the patches will be red, causes because doshas vitiate the rakta dhatu (blood).
Aruna – when doshas vitiate the mamsa dhatu (muscle tissue), the patches will be coppery in color.

Red clay – apply 2 tbsp red clay and 2 tbsp of ginger juice – apply the mixture to the white patches every day.

Drink water from a copper vessel.

Apply the mixture of basil juice and lime juice to your skin every day,
