Adenoids from the point of view of Ayurveda
Adenoids are small lumps of tissue at the back of the throat, just above the tonsils, and are part of the immune system, helping to fight against infection. They can become inflamed and swollen. Swollen or infected adenoids can cause problems such as a sore throat, throat pain, or tonsilliti, very stuffy nose, so the child can breathe only through the mouth. The other issues are snoring and trouble getting a good night’s sleep; sore throat and trouble swallowing; and infection problems in ears . Adenoids along with tonsils are a part of the lymphatic system - its function is to clear away infections by filtering out the bacteria and viruses from the nose and their forceful entry inside the body
Ayurveda explains that inflamed tonsils and adenoids are an indication of excess Kapha . When children are growing they have a need for more mucus in their bodies, but when this accumulates excessively this is a warning that the immune system is likely to be compromised and immediate steps should be taken to restore balance. This involves Kapha reducing treatment. It is very important to avoid all foods that increase Kapha .
Ayurveda focuses on treating an ailment from its roots and by strengthening the whole body . Ayurvedic adenoids are treated based on the various signs and symptoms of the disease to which the best treatments are applied.
Adenoid enlargement has direct connection with the Ayurvedic disease Kanthashaluka – according to that a list of necessary procedures is compiled and Ayurvedic medicines are selected, which depends on the degree of the disease. Before treatment, an Ayurvedic doctor needs full information about the course of the disease and diagnostics of the body.
Tips for effective Ayurvedic treatment of Adenoids
Golden Milk – pinch of turmeric powder and black pepper powder to a glass of warm milk , drink before sleep
Avoid sugar, bananas, and yogurt,
few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of pepper powder to a teaspoon of honey – mixture should be given at least twice a day.,
